GENERAL OUTCOME 1 - Truth and Bright Water Visual

Reflection
In the past I have absolutely hated presenting things in front of the class. I found it very intimidating and did not really learn anything from the process. However, with this style of presentation I felt like it was extremely beneficial for my learning. I still didn’t like presenting personally, but having the ability to ask questions after every person’s presentation extended my knowledge as well as gave them an opportunity to explain their project further.

The Truth and Bright Water Visual assignment met General Outcome 1 of discovering possibilities. In the initial process of creating this project, I formed my own interpretations and understandings (1.1.1) of the novel Truth and Bright Water. After deciding that I wanted my teaching statement to be “Teaching the Mirror to Deceive” I planned out what I wanted my main components (mirrors, paint brushes, grass, buffalo, paint) of the visual to be. I then experimented with different visual and structural arrangements of these elements (1.1.2) until I found balance and unity within my project. While presenting my project to the class, I was challenged to consider new perspectives (1.2.1) and try my best to answer questions that reflected their perspective of the book, as well as their perspective on my project. Finally after reflecting on the visual assignment, I expressed preferences (1.2.2) by taking into account some ideas that had been suggested to me by my peers and determined what I could do to improve my project.
