OUTSIDE CLASS WORK - Tom Longboat



Tom Longboat was a world champion long-distance runner. He won the Boston Marathon and set a new record in 1907. Then in 1909 he won the World Professional Marathon Championships in New York City. In 1916, he stopped competing and enlisted where he ran messages and orders between different units. He had been mistakenly declared dead once, and actually died in 1949, at the age of 62. He`s honored in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Indian Hall of Fame.
